Star Wars Action Figures Are Fun

By Peter Lewis

Any person growing up in the 70's, 80's or 90's knows all about the unique dolls and toys which were made by Mego and Kenner. Star Wars action figures have been around for a very long time and they are very wonderful to look at and to play with. People everywhere would love to have a Hans Solo doll who looks just like the actor named Harrison Ford.

Luckily Kenner was smart enough to produce these unique items after Mego turned them down. Mego thought that this particular movie would never be popular and they walked away from a deal which could have been worth millions. Harrison Ford enjoyed being featured on a statue and his other thespians were also glad to be represented in this fashion.

The producers and directors of this movie made certain to sign their actors onto this great toy deal. Hans Solo, Luke and Leia were the top three characters within this film and this was very wonderful to all human beings. The movies had so many aliens and other creatures within it. Hans Solo could be seen in three different forms within toy stores.

The very first version of him resembled a Ken doll since he had the same shape and style of Barbie's boyfriend. This statue was wearing a vest and white shirt and a regular pair of pants. He had boots that could be taken off anytime of the hour. Many young boys purchased this item since it was part of the movie franchise and they did not realize that Hans was a true doll.

Every toy company around is always looking for ways to expand their horizons and it was no surprise that Hasbro had eventually earned the rights to this particular movie. After receiving these certain rights Hasbro came up with their own version of Hans Solo. He was a more mature looking hard male who was not easy to carry. Unfortunately they did not sell as well as any of the Kenner originals.

Many individuals enjoyed collecting the smaller items which they could display on a book shelf. These three inch dolls had painted on outfits and they could easily fit into a person's pocket. People can now buy these products at any toy store across America or anywhere else within this world. Unfortunately some of the larger and more famous toy makers will sell twelve inch dolls at a much higher price. Kenner's Hans Solo was also identified as Indiana Jones.

Unfortunately the original Princess Leia doll was not a big money maker during the 70's. Little boys were reluctant to buy this beauty since she was a female. Many toy collectors now realize that this particular item is worth tons of money. Leia had very realistic hair and she also had clothing which could be removed. Fortunately people can still buy this particular item within the original package.

People often thought that the Leia version from Hasbro should have been taken out of the stores quickly. This was one doll which was a total mess. Anyone who purchased this item complained about the glue issue which was a major problem for the toy company. The Hasbro Leia is not worth that much money on today's market. Unfortunately no one has been able to copy the Kenner style.
