Processes Used By Tallahassee Concrete Polishing Contractors

By Larry Patterson

There are different kinds of flooring that individuals can invest in for their interiors. The selection is often based on affordability, ease of maintenance and aesthetics. Experts work together with the clients to ensure that the perfect space is created. The following information describes how Tallahassee Concrete Polishing Contractors do their job.

Remove coatings that already exist. This could be paint or sealers that had been placed initially. Make use of an aggressive tool that can scrape off the unwanted layers. Blemishes on the floor are removed through grinding. Some layers are quite thick and special tools that can handle that level of thickness need to be selected for efficiency.

Work on the cracks or unwanted spaces that appear. A polished surface with cracks does not look appealing. To identify cracks, the contractors need to inspect the floor to identify areas that need filling. Polymers that are efficient for the job are usually placed here to fill the areas with defects. Once placed they should be undisturbed for a while for it to dry.

Choose the appropriate method for polishing. Methods used to polish concrete are either wet or dry. Dry polishing is environmentally friendly and takes less time to complete. The wet type as its name suggests makes use of water. This cools the abrasives that are used and gets rid of the dust produced during the grinding process. Once the dust is removed, a cleaner working area is availed. The water reduces friction and acts as a lubricating agent, and this allows the polish to stay on longer.

Consider decorating the space. The items used for decoration will depend on the result that the client is going for. Those who want to have a specific color will have to choose good quality dyes that can stain the concrete to the required color. Some polish usually have glass within them, and this look is quite nice.

The polishing process can now begin. Grinding is carried out many times until the preferred look is achieved. The state of the concrete determines how often grinding needs to be done. If fewer steps are required, the surface is probably in good condition. If more grinding is required, it is possible that the concrete was in a bad state. This occurs when dealing with a surface that is not new.

Make the concrete denser. A liquid chemical hardener is used at this point. A broom with stiff bristles is used to apply the liquid. The surface needs to be saturated with this hardener so that it can work effectively. It serves to solidify the concrete surface and prevent water penetration as well as staining.

Carry out the final polish. This requires the use of the finest grinding tool. The contractors work on the surface until a high gloss finish is achieved. Once this is done, a stain guard needs to be applied. This will make the floor resistant to stains and dirt. This product will have to be reapplied after a few months so that the protective effect is maintained.
