How Reliable Is Production Data Analysis

By Margaret Scott

There are many challenges that one might encounter in Production Data Analysis. Here is a sample of some of the common challenges which occur during analysis including pressure, flow rate, well completion and General. These issues must be recognized if not addressed in the case that a product examination sequence is conducted. Influence of data examination could vary from high, moderate to very high. The article under forth describes of the factors generated and importance of data examination.

Analysis can be separated into two and that is the estimation of reservoir properties from transient flow data and the estimation of reservoir volume from boundary-dominated flow information. It is important to note that legacy creation information may not contain the quality nor the frequency sufficient to produce competent estimates of reservoir properties. When dataset is complete then it is of good quality.

Using production figures investigation is effective and has reason within it as it consists reasonable reservoir characteristic, it however has its fair share of disadvantages such as that it does not entail an integrative technique that can accommodate results from many individual wells and does not have a process wellhead and bottom hole pressure figures in mature fields.

If the tubing and casing pressure separate it could be due to liquid load-up or a leak in the tubes. Scatter in creation rates and flowing pressures could mean unstable flow. Flowing pressure with large-duration step changes indicate infrequent measurements thus comparison with flowrate information is crucial to ensure that the pressure information are competent. Deconvolution issue works around poor quality of information.

It is a reliable technique as it also employs other methods like history matching to try and increase its accuracy of estimation and interpretation of figures. History matching is quite a challenging method and is not as straightforward as it may seem as it is solely based on facts. However when type curve investigation is used them the results acquired through history matching are not used.

History Matching HM is also a method that is used in creation information breakdown and it is described by using the results of TCM which are area drainage, assumed parameters and bottom hole pressure as a starting point. This is because HM does not include any unique solutions hence using the already known parameters saves on time and there is a high probability for a better match.

Diagnostic plot implies that a certain feature will emerge from a given figures profile. The goal is to provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic insight of the plots. If significant information mismatch were to exit, then we would conclude that these creation figures are not correlated or possibly corrupted. Comparison of measured pressures and those pressures computed from deconvolution show only fair agreement.

The well completion history is an essential element of the examination process and must always be taken into account particularly for cases of recompletions, well simulations and major workovers. Production and reservoir engineering principles could clash during well simulation. Thus, performing well simulation very early in the completion history will minimize change in reservoir model.
